Social Responsibility
Our commitment to community
WECU® has a strong commitment to the needs of our community and has two committees devoted to social responsibility. The Social Responsibility Committee (SRC) oversees our monetary donations. The committee's emphasis is to support education, health and community concerns. We will actively seek projects that are identified as a strong need in our community, e.g. violence, homelessness, drug abuse. Requests that fall outside of those areas will also be reviewed. Requests are reviewed quarterly by the Social Responsibility Committee, who makes recommendations to the board of directors for approval on donations that align with the committee's goals to benefit our community.
WECU's Sweat Equity Team (SET) oversees WECU® participation in local projects and events.
If you would like more information, please contact WECU's Social Responsibility Representative, Reid Frederick, by emailing social.responsibility@wecu.com.
Donations
Requests for monetary donations are reviewed by the social responsibility committee quarterly and recommendations are made to the board of directors for approval on projects that align with the committee's goals to benefit our community. Organizations we have supported in the past year are listed below. For more information regarding monetary donations, please visit our Donations page.
Sweat Equity
WECU's Sweat Equity Team (SET) endeavors to bring fun, rewarding and interesting volunteer opportunities to our WECU® staff. Projects are typically one-time 'event' commitments. Requests for WECU's Sweat Equity Team (SET) are reviewed periodically for committee approval. If you are a local nonprofit (501(c)3 or Washington State nonprofit) that needs a few extra pairs of hands for your event, please visit our SET page. We request 3 months' notice in advance of your event.
