A Message to our Members from CEO Jennifer Kutcher

As a long-standing financial institution and stakeholder in Whatcom County, we play an active role in our local community and have done so for over 80 years. Therefore, we believe it is important to clearly declare that at WECU:

We stand for the rights of all citizens regardless of race, color, or creed.

We do not tolerate any form of racism, discrimination, or bias in our organization.

We stand with every individual in our community and support their right to be heard.

We believe in unity and peace over division and violence.

We embrace diversity, encourage thoughtfulness, and strive for meaningful change.

We know that a community is only as strong as its public and personal display of humanity granted one to another. This means offering grace, humility, active listening, and allowing the respectful sharing of ideas, even when we do not agree.

Our mission as a credit union is to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the people we serve. Like our community, our membership is diverse. Through our core values of Serve Others, Do What Is Right and Think Differently, we promote and support constructive change, meaningful dialogue and fairness and equity for all. We hope that you will join us in this pursuit.

Today, and every day after, we are committed to deepening our listening and building on our strong credit union history of people helping people. This includes continuing to strengthen diversity and inclusion within our culture and continuing to ensure financial inclusion within our community. These actions are just the beginning of a long journey ahead of us, as we work together to move toward equality and the elimination of systemic racism.

WE are in this together, and together, we can make a meaningful difference in our world.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Kutcher
