Scholarships
Education is in our DNA.
Are you a WECU member attending a local college? WECU has 32 member scholarships available! WECU is proud to partner with five institutions of higher learning to award $98,000 in funding each year.
WECU was founded in 1936 as the Bellingham Teachers Credit Union. Today, in honor of that heritage, WECU annually provides $38,000 in scholarships to Western Washington University, Whatcom Community College, Bellingham Technical College, Northwest Indian College, and Skagit Valley College to support local education.
You must be a full-time student, have a demonstrated need for financial aid, have an accumulated GPA minimum of 2.75, and be a WECU member in good standing for at least one year to apply. Applications and further details are available through the financial aid office of each school.
WECU also awards $50,000 in athletic scholarships and $10,000 in Western Welcomes Scholarships, which increases access to higher education for historically underrepresented students, including those who are the first in their families to attend college.
The application period has ended. Please check back in April 2024 for the next round of scholarships.
