Bellingham, WA (November 18, 2024) — WECU is reaffirming its commitment to empowering the community with the tools needed for financial wellness. In 2024, WECU delivered over 85 financial education lessons to more than 1,600 people, demonstrating its dedication to fostering financial literacy across all age groups.
The sessions were tailored to meet the unique needs of various audiences:
- 13 lessons were provided to adults.
- 4 sessions focused on college students.
- 10 sessions targeted elementary and middle school students.
- 2 Bite of Reality events
- The remaining lessons served high school students.
Looking ahead, WECU is raising the bar with a goal to greatly increase the number of financial education lessons in 2025. These lessons cover critical topics such as budgeting, scams and fraud prevention, and credit and loans.
“Financial literacy is a cornerstone of community well-being,” said Reid Frederick, Director of Community Impact at WECU. “By equipping individuals with practical knowledge, we’re not just helping them succeed today but building a stronger, more resilient community for the future.”
