BELLINGHAM, WA (January 8, 2025) – WECU invested $520,000 in local nonprofits and community initiatives throughout 2025, reinforcing its long-standing commitment to strengthening the communities it serves across Western Washington.

WECU’s annual giving supported a wide range of community needs, including education, youth development, financial well-being, and nonprofit capacity building. In 2025, notable contributions included:

  • $114,000 in charitable sponsorships supporting local events and organizations
  • $96,000 in scholarships to help students pursue higher education
  • $130,000 through WECU’s Education First initiative, benefiting education-focused nonprofits
  • $81,500 in Community Builder Grants, empowering nonprofits addressing critical local needs

These investments reflect WECU’s cooperative model and its mission to reinvest resources back into the people and places that make its communities strong.
