BELLINGHAM (May 6, 2023) — WECU has partnered with several Whatcom and Skagit Counties library systems to support their summer reading programs. WECU’s support will enable each library system to improve its programs and purchase more books for participating students and community members.

WECU has reached agreements with the Whatcom County Library System, Bellingham Library System, Mount Vernon Central Library, Burlington Public Library, and Central Skagit Library.

“WECU is committed to enriching the communities we serve,” said Keith Mader, Program Manager, PR & Content at WECU. “Through the support of these great programs, we hope that even more children find their love for reading and are more prepared to head into the next school year.”

Credit union representatives will participate in various community events put on by the library systems, including parties in the park, kick-off parties at multiple branches, Children’s Craft Fair, Dia De Los Ninos, and others. Another element of the partnerships focuses on financial literacy for children. A display of money books for all ages will be in all libraries for a few weeks throughout the summer.
