Bellingham, WA – April 10, 2026
What began as a small grassroots fundraiser has grown into one of Bellingham’s most anticipated annual traditions. Today, April Brews Day continues that legacy— with WECU as Title Sponsor and a $13,000 contribution to Max Higbee Center.
Founded in 2001 to support inclusive recreation programs, the event now welcomes more than 2,000 attendees and features 40 Pacific Northwest breweries, cideries, and kombucha makers, along with a curated lineup of local food vendors.
WECU’s long-standing involvement, dating back to 2019, reflects a shared commitment to the mission behind the event.
“April Brews Day has always been about more than what’s in the glass,” said Keith Mader, Director of PR at WECU. “It’s about creating opportunities for people to connect while supporting a nonprofit that plays such an important role in our community.”
This year’s event will take place at the Civic Field parking lot, a move designed to improve accessibility and create a more inclusive experience for attendees of all abilities—an intentional shift that aligns closely with the mission of Max Higbee Center. And while the setting may be new, the atmosphere promises to be as vibrant as ever.
More than 30 volunteers will welcome guests at the entrance, helping to check in attendees and kick off the experience. Inside, WECU members who show their card can receive two additional drink tickets at the WECU tent, located just beyond the entrance.
Beyond sponsorship, WECU employees will be on-site volunteering and engaging with attendees throughout the day. The WECU game area—featuring cornhole, giant pong, water pong, and other interactive games—will offer an added layer of fun and connection for festivalgoers.
As April Brews Day continues to evolve, its purpose remains unchanged: bringing people together in support of Max Higbee Center and the individuals it serves.
