Seminars hosted by WECU® are free and open to the general public. Reservations are required. Seminars are presented in the WECU® Education Center at 511 East Holly St. in Bellingham. Below is a list of upcoming seminars:

Small Business Seminar

This seminar will include information regarding business formation & taxation, marketing & promotion, and the business credit process. Speakers will touch on the differences between various entity types, how to start a small business in Whatcom County, and some of the most pressing issues for small business owners in Bellingham.  Wade Stringfield, SBA Program Manager for WECU will be joined by Eric Grimstead, Certified Business Advisor for the WWU SBDC, and Gene Bell of Gene Bell & Associates.

WECU Student Visa

Invitation only. Our program is designed for members at least 16 years of age, and provides students with an opportunity to learn about money management and maintaining good credit.  Students are required to attend the Student Visa Seminar and we strongly encourage legal guardians or parent(s) to attend. Upon successful completion of the Student Visa Seminar and either a completed application with proof of income or parent/legal guardian as co-borrower, student members are issued a $250 Student Visa which is good until age 21. Visit for card details.

First-Time Homebuyers Seminar

Looking to purchase a primary residence or your first home? Staff from WECU®’s Real Estate Department will present an overview of the home buying process. The presentation will include the mortgage loan process, down payments, closing costs, titles and appraisals. This seminar is geared towards the needs of first time homebuyers but is also a great refresher for anyone who is interested.
